Actually, you don't need to find them, they need to find you...just Advertise, advertise, advertise

Thank you Dinah,
I have heard from other Notaries that all the web site advertising is not worth the money. Which ones do you have success with.
Thank you so much

Have cards made up, also print up a sheet with your rates. Make sure all of your friends and relatives know that you are a notary. Drop off cards and or rate sheets at schools, little leagues (soccer, football, dance), retirement homes, banks(downsizing, they don't always have notaries anymore), hospitals. There are a lot of things that need notarizing that are not loans docs, so don't forget these. You are in California, here they have to have applications for birth certificate copies notarizied (because of identity theft). ANYTIME you have free time, sign up with signing services, it takes a little more work, but sometimes you can sign up directly with title and mortgage companies. The more you are signed up with the more calls you will get. I have been doing this for 10 years, I don't pay for advertising, I tried and got no more work than just signing up on a lot of free sites. So I don't pay to advertise anymore (for loan work). I do put ads in Little League newpapers (they have to have birth certificates to play in tournaments outside their own areas)..because since it is a fairly new law, a lot of people don't know you have to have a notary to get a birth certificate. Schools/PTA's will add a note in flyers (especially if you donate a couple of reams of paper). Any charity events happening, I always put in a gift basket.. ususally stationary and a notary service. I offer free notary services to veterans at the VFW, I go one afternoon a month (I was not in the military, but I am glad and thankful someone is willing to be). Just get your name out there, the more organizations, companies etc., you are involved with they more notarizations and loan signing you will get. Always be professional, look neat, friendly and give them cards before you leave for future signings! Good luck!

Hello Rose:

I'm also new to the signing business but I have registered with almost all the companies on the net or it sure seems like I did. I signed up with Notary Depot, 123notary, Notary Bay, GoGetNotary, Notary Study, Notary Rotary, Notary Cafe, Notary Direct and Notary Software. I got one assignment from Notary Depot (borrower found me there and I notarized some docs for him) and one through 123notary. I'm also registered with yahoo groups and have learned alot from those nice notaries. I am so excited about this business. I also went to Office Live Small Business website and am in the process of creating a website. Hope it helps me, at least it's free. I hope this helps you and that you get alot of business. Oh, and I went to some title companies around my home and left them my business card. My husbands supervisor is a signing agent (has been for over 10 years) and the way she got her business was through title companies. Also signing up on signing company websites is another way. Good luck!!

Lucia
