You just have to let everyone you know, know that you are a Notary Public. In California, because of identity theft, they have to have a notarized document that says they are the parents or the person who birth certificate it is to be able to get on…
Thank God, my eom April and May were finally something to write about. I have had so few signing the last few months, I felt like a newbie going back out on signings! LOL I am in the Southern California area. I hope that this is a sign that things a…
Have cards made up, also print up a sheet with your rates. Make sure all of your friends and relatives know that you are a notary. Drop off cards and or rate sheets at schools, little leagues (soccer, football, dance), retirement homes, banks(downsi…
The Warden did not call me...I said that one time..because they knew the fee in advance the warden had the check/payment ready in the office. They cannot refer anyone, but they can say here are approved vendors.

Well, Christine.......
I had no idea what to charge and the lender ask if $100.00 was ok.....so that is how I got the rates I did. I am in the Southern California area....I don't know if that made a difference on the rates or not. But in my area we…
I have had several modifications since the 1st of the year. They are (the one I did) only 10 or 12 pages at most
and the have all been local. I have been called by the lender on each one and they have paid $100 to $125.00 for each one that I did. (I…
Friends had a relative in prison, and needed notary work. I got state paperwork to get approval to go in for notary work. (good anywhere in California). Then I just began sending my card and a letter to the different facilities in the area. Usually…

Best/Craziest Notary Story
Client's office in local hospital was occupied so we went to his work station.....a table in the morgue for autopsies. He also had a
disease where he could not use pens or office supplies which had
been previously used...so he brought along 2 grocery bags full of
supplies to use...then gave them to me when we finished. I've done a couple of other signings with this gentleman...so he keeps me
supplied with office supplies. I have also done a signing with
the wife in labor.....at the same hospital...we finsihed in plenty of time....Mother and baby doing fine. One other signing the baby
was 3 days old so we were all in the master bedroom, in bed (they all had on their pj's, if I had only known..I would have had my own on too!) I also do signings weekly at several different prisons/jails
in my area.

Thank You for your support yesterday, it means a lot to me! As I was telling Don Gill, having this forum is such a great help to us notaries. California is one of the hardest hit states, especially as you said Southern (I'm in Northern) because so many shaky loans were taken out. I have heard it is very slow there. It is slow here to because of the holidays. With support and creativeness we can all make it through! Take Care. Mel
