Lucia, I agree. I pick up money just about every month for trip fees. I charge $30.00 for my trip and notarizing up to 5 documents; this is for anywhere in Shelby County, TN. You may find that a trip fee is the only way to make it worth doing. I ...

I was under the impression that GA was an attorney-only state for real estate closings. This would mean you are not allowed to do any NSA work there unless you are an attorney. Have you received info otherwise? If not, you may be subjecting yourse...

I'm not in Atlanta, but have you thought about charging a travel fee. I know it's not much, but at least it's a little more added. That is what I am doing when I just do standard notarizations. We charge no more than $6.00 here in TX and without a...

Thanks Don, It's good to know someone is making it happen as a notary in GA. What does a yellow pages listing cost? Fortunately, I also have other irons in the fire. I introduce people to discounted health care and health maintenance products. ...

Hi Jacquie, thanks for the invite.
I used to watch Sanford and Son with my father all the time. He didn't watch much tv but we never laughed so hard as when he watched that show. :)

Best/Craziest Notary Story
I have been blessed with basically all good notarizations. The majority of my notarizations have been for mortgage loans. I present my bill to the client at the completion of the notarization and have not had any problems with payment except one out of state client who took about a month to pay. I no longer do business with them.
The craziest notariztion was with a client who waited until I arrived to contact her loan officer to go over her mortgage loan documents... line-by- line. The entire process took about 3 hours (83 page document). I was not prepared for this type of ordeal so I did not charge for the time. My new mortgage loan contracts stipulate that any time that exceeds one hour is billed at an additional fee.
